I think I open every post about belly pics the same way: I talk about the challenge of it. I’m sure its no picnic going the staged photography route either, I mean there’s a pretty fine line between the art of Queen Beh and the disasters that become the next post on Awkward Family Photos! But the lifestyle approach to pregnancy is challenging because you have to figure out how to make something happen outwardly when so much of what is going on is about an inward preparation.
Cathy and Jon gave me a very easy start. They had put a lot of work into creating a beautiful nursery for her, featuring the perfect icon of springtime in Washington, DC: cherry blossoms! General approves….
AND, they have the coolest ultrasound picture ever created. (I’ll bet the techs kept a copy of this one.) Look closely… the baby is giving a thumbs up. So she must approve as well!
I loved what was happening inside. But we decided to go out.
We took a walk to through their neighborhood park. It was buzzing with activity on a sunny spring day.
We ended up right outside the gates to the playground and for some reason I asked if they wanted to go inside. Jon said not yet. And he was right, not yet. We were onto something, staying outside for now.
Try and hear the playground in the background, if you can, full of the commotion and the laughter of children at play.
My favorite things happened when we backed away from the playground a little bit. They’re not there yet.
But soon. Very soon….
